Apprenticeships

London Borough of Sutton are proud to offer a wide range of apprenticeship schemes. Our apprenticeships allow us to support the delivery of our services by:

  • providing skilled workers for the future.
  • commitment to support our service delivery and service users.
  • revitalising our organisation by providing a modern way to combine work and on-the-job learning.

Apprenticeships at London Borough of Sutton provide an ideal opportunity for:

  • individuals aged 16 and over.
  • anyone not in full-time education.
  • UK residents, care leavers and people living in the Borough.

Supported Internships

As part of our aim to build life-changing outcomes for young people, London Borough of Sutton have partnered with Mencap to offer supported internships aimed at developing a diverse and inclusive workforce and a place for young disabled people to grow their career.

Our Supported Internships are structured study programmes that include on-the-job training. They are provided by experienced job coaches and delivered to applicants of Special Educational Needs under an Education, Health and Care plan. The overall goal of our supported internships enables disabled young people to move into paid employment with the right preparation and support.

Our placements empower:

  • disabled young people to study for relevant qualifications, where appropriate.
  • interns to be able to demonstrate their value in the workplace and develop work based skills and experience.
  • managers to increase their confidence in working with disabled young people.

The duration of the programme is for 12 months and will include unpaid work placements within the London Borough of Sutton. Interns will have an opportunity to transition into paid employment at the end of the programme.
