A commissioning council that is committed to procuring services that enhance people's lives.
The Commissioning team's roles and responsibilities are to commission and develop early help, support, and accommodation services throughout the Sutton Borough. This is to provide high quality services for older people, vulnerable adults, children and young people and their families, that can support and enable them to live well.
Two key areas of focus for the division are:
- Sutton resident experience.
- delivering change and transformation across the Council and beyond.
The division focuses on the experience of our residents as they come into contact with the Council, and the delivery of our transformation projects which are key to delivering the Sutton Council's priorities.
We are committed to working with new and existing providers, community groups, and business start-ups to ensure that we have a diverse and sustainable market place that meets their support and social care needs.
Commissioning within Sutton Council is not solely about planning, procuring, and managing external service provision. The Commissioning team are involved with:
- providing a different perspective, challenging service and needs assumptions and exploring issues.
- finding ways to unlock and mobilise assets and resources in delivering public services.
- leading collaboration with partners, including service providers, other public bodies, charities, businesses, and citizens.
- moving ideas to action: Pilot and then scale innovative service delivery models.
- create a learning culture where ideas are tested and learning is used to inform future development.
- engaging and empowering service users in design decisions and delivery.
The commissioning team also leads on the understanding of any planning for current and future care and support needs including:
- the current, future demographics, and service provision.
- shaping Sutton’s commissioning intentions as a facilitator of care and support for those individuals needing adult social care.
- future proofing wherever possible our local services for younger people preparing for adulthood.
- setting out how the care and support market could respond to the changing needs of care and support for the future.
- the emerging picture of services within an integrated health and care system.
- the importance of quality digital and technology enabled care within the delivery of care and support within Sutton.
